Piedra River

The Piedra River from Highway 160 upstream should remain suitable (as noted in the 1979 Wild and Scenic River study) and managed under the following categories: Recreational from Highway 160 to Indian Creek; Wild from Indian Creek to FDR 631; Scenic along the Middle Fork and East Fork from FDR 631 to the Weminuche Wilderness boundary; Wild for the Middle Fork and East Fork inside the Weminuche Wilderness.

The Piedra River offers outstandingly remarkable scenic, recreational, historical, cultural, geological, and fish and wildlife values. Much of the river corridor has been protected by previous Congressional action within the Piedra special management area and the Weminuche Wilderness.
