Colorado Wolf Restoration: Restore the Wolf, Restore the Balance

September 17, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Gary Skiba, SJCA’s Wildlife Program Manager, will be one of the presenters during a Sierra Club webinar on Colorado Wolf Restoration next Thursday, September 14 at 7:00 PM.  Gary’s focus will be on the impacts of wolf predation on big game populations, other panel members will discuss wolf biology, possible impacts to livestock, and the details of Proposition 114, the ballot initiative that will be on the November 3 ballot in Colorado.  Hope to see you there!

More information:

Coloradans have a historic opportunity this November:  To vote for restoring a natural balance to 17 million acres of Colorado’s public lands by restoring gray wolves to western Colorado. If you are, or become, a registered Colorado voter, you have a stake in the outcome of this grassroots effort, no matter where you live in Colorado.

Please join us for a webinar that explores restoring wolves to Colorados wildlands, and how Proposition 114 (formerly 107) advances that effort! Enjoy four insightful talks by a knowledgeable panel, and a moderated Q&A session:

“Why Restore the Gray Wolf to Colorado?”
– Diana Tomback, Professor of forest ecology and conservation biology, UC Denver

“Livestock Management for Coexistence With Wolves”
– Matt Barnes, Rangeland scientist and livestock-carnivore coexistence specialist; Research Associate, Northern Rockies Conservation Cooperative

“Wolf Predation and Impact on Prey”
– Gary Skiba, Wildlife Program Manager, San Juan Citizens Alliance

“Proposition 114:  What You Need To Know”
– Brian Duchinsky, Conservation Chair, Headwaters Group
