SUMMARY:La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) Board Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Public comment is first thing at 9am. This  month they’re voting on the future of a subcommittee to study LPEA’s long-term power supply options in a rapidly changing energy economy. Learn more. \nTell LPEA that studying the future is critical:\n\nThe LPEA board can’t know what’s best for LPEA until they research existing options\nA subcommittee is the most efficient way to complete this review\, the whole board doesn’t have the time\nThe subcommittee should work with LPEA staff to ensure accurate\, efficient collection of data\nThe subcommittee should release the stages of their process to the public to ensure transparency\n\nIf you can’t make it\, write or call your LPEA representatives.\nTo learn more\, check out our recaps of these meetings in our LPEA Spotlight blog series and learn more about LPEA in general here.

SUMMARY:LPEA Election Open House
DESCRIPTION:Come\, eat\, drink\, and learn why we need to elect an active\, forward thinking LPEA Board of Directors. Let’s band together to lower rates for everyone with local\, renewable energy! \nDID YOU KNOW? Renewable energy costs in Colorado are now on par with coal! \nUnfortunately\, La Plata Electric Association (LPEA)\, is in an expensive contract that forces us to buy 95% of our power from a majority coal provider through 2050. \nOur community has the opportunity to look at ways to diversify our power sources\, gain local control\, and lower electricity rates for everyone. But right now\, a majority of our LPEA Board of Directors are unwilling to question the status quo. Fortunately\, as members of LPEA\, we have the opportunity to speak out through our votes each year! \nCome join us as we discuss the importance of this year’s election and how you can get involved. We’ll have happy hour drinks\, appetizers\, information\, and current board members available to chat with! \nFACEBOOK EVENT
