SUMMARY:Women Outside Adventure Forum: US Mexico Thruhikers
DESCRIPTION:US/Mexico Border Thru Hikers\nTenny Ostrem & Claire Wernstedt-Lynch\nThursday\, March 21st\, 6-8:30 pm\nDoors Open at 5:30\nHenry Strater Theater\n\nThe final night of Women Outside Adventure Forum is Hike the Line\, a film about Tenny and Claire’s historic thru-hike of the US/Mexico border. Limited seats are available and tickets include 1 drink and hors d’oeuvres.\n\nTenny Ostrem and Claire Wernstedt-Lynch completed the first “thru-hike” of the US/Mexico border this year\, walking from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico\, and crossing through four states\, several cities\, a national park\, and numerous small towns. Over the course of their 6-month trip\, they encountered people\, organizations and physical landscapes that challenged their stereotypes of the border and those of their friends and families back home. Their goal was to focus on the positive and human aspects of an area often overlooked in our contentious political discourse and to walk peacefully and with humility and respect for different voices.\nThe Women Outside Adventure Forum is brought to you by Backcountry Experience. This three-day event features a diverse lineup of athletes\, writers\, and adventurers. Also speaking at this year’s forum:\nMarch 19 – Ultrarunner Kelly Halpin and Adventure journalist Morgan Tilton\nMarch 20 – National Geographic Adventurer Hilaree Nelson and Big Wall Climber Madaleine Sorkin\nWomen Outside is brought to you by:\nOsprey Packs\nOutdoor Research\nAlpine Bank\nThe Rochester Hotel\nAdventure Pro Magazine\nAlpacka Raft\nFredrick Zink & Associates\, CPAs\nSalt 360 Float Studio\nCrow’s Closet\neNZees Footwear\nThe Payroll Dept.
